This method is a temporary thing, but it also does no damage to the house’s windows – in other words, no angry landlords when you leave.
What programs are available, for free, that would allow one to play games like Civilization 2 or Diablo on windows vista?
Have you tried compatibility mode? They should run alright, if there are errors you could post them here to get help. Most games are backwards compatible, its older programs that usually have problems. If they’re old games, I know that if you’re running a 64-bit Operating system, some of those games will not run.
I’m using windows vista and i just want to know the best settings for youtube. The settings i already have dont work good for youtube cuz it makes the video smaller then the youtube screen.
you need to set output video resolution as 320 x 240. note: your videos can be up to 2GB in size and 10 minutes long.
the best video format for uploading is .flv it’s small size and good qulity. save your time for uploading. so you can convert your output video from .wmv to .flv by using video to flash converter at
you can save the files as WMV,MP4,AVI etc, they are all supported by youtube,I used to created the video as wma, cause it’s smaller.
Though movie maker is the best free movie making software but the output fomats and effects are too limited.
Yu need find more advanced but still user friendly software tomake better slideshows you may try photo story platinum.
you can get more information on its offical site
Windows Vista does not recognize that a cd drive is installed but when I go to the control panel, the driver is up to date and it says it is functioning properly. I’ve already tried the microsoft autofix and manually. How can I fix it?
I recently got new speakers and they are very large for my small room and have a loud, deep bass. I love the way they sound, but whenever I listen to them my windows shake like crazy. (I live in a really old house) It’s really irritating because I can’t concetrate on the music with the rattling of the windows. What should I do?
Old houses usually have window frames that aren’t tight to the actual window opening.
Get yourself a slim edge spatula or putty knife and some kind of fabric like an old tee shirt or something. Push the fabric into the space where the window is the loosest with the spatula or putty knife so there is less wiggle room for the window. Once you’ve stabilized the windows, they’ll quiet down.
Obviously, you could turn the volume down, but where is the rationale in that???
I am looking for a nice and free screen capturing program that is high-quality. It also needs to work with Windows Movie Maker. Any responses will be appreciated.
Well, I haven’t done it in a while but CamStudio was pretty good for me.
From the Microsoft site, here are the things ‘Vista Ultimate’ has that ‘Vista Home Premium’ doesn’t;
- Windows complete PC backup and restore
- Fax/Scanning utility
- Remote access to business resources
- Data protection with ‘BitLocker drive encrypion’
- A collection of smaller extra features
Oh, and it’s about $60 more expensive (not worth it if you ask me).
As for running ‘Home Premium 64-bit’, the recommended specifications and features are;
-1 GHz 64-bit (x64) processor
-1 GB of system memory
-40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
-Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:
WDDM Driver
128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
32 bits per pixel
-DVD-ROM drive
-Audio Output
-Internet access
Remember that these are recommended and so not necessarily required, although even with the recommended specs, vista will probably seem very slow. If you like windows, i’d recommend ‘Windows 7′.
Hope this helps.
I just reinstalled windows Vista on my computer and have finished re-installing all of my drivers. For some reason when I go to change the color of my toolbar in Windows Color and Appearance i get a completely different menu than I used to get (and everybody else) and I don’t even get a color change option. Anybody know how to fix this?
It’s open source so it’s free. The FPS you get can depend on the power of your computer and the options you use, but I never bothered with those too much. I think it outputs in AVI so if it doesn’t work in Windows Movie Maker right away (and I somewhat doubt it since AVI is such a basic format), you could convert it using Super or something similar to wmv format.
If you’re looking for a commercial product, you may be able to do better.
On youtube it says the windows movie maker is not formatted to be compatible with online use. But it says I need to format it so it can be uploaded.
I have an english assignment we have to do which is due in 2 days. I upload the videos onto my computer but i get this error message:
cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.
What should i do?
Windows Movie Maker is a bit buggy. Use NCH VideoPad. It’s a free video editing software and you can get it from
i dont know if this helps… if you are using an older version of windows movie maker, update it. also make sure that the video you are using is a valid video file (.avg, .mpeg, etc…)
You need to convert the videos made by Windows Movie Maker to the video file format that youtube supports, such as FLV, AVI, WMV. So you need a video converter.
Well, I personally use WinX Video Converter. I only want to say I love to create videos by Windows Movie Maker, too. Then I use WinX Video Converter to convert those videos and finally put them to youtube. That’s all. Fast and easy to operate.
This works every time for me.
Step 1] Once you’ve finished your finished click File > Save Movie File
Step 2] It should be highlighted over My Computer already so click Next.
Step 3] Type in what you want it to be called on your comp (you can always change the name when you upload it) in the first blank and the second part choose a place to save it (Desktop is easiest to find your file, you can move it to a folder later). Then hit next.
Step 4] Make sure the circle is filled in with a green dot that has the words: Best quality for playback on my computer (recommended)
Step 5] Just wait for it to download and try uploading that file.
Also, how do I check if my computer can handle 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium? Thanks!
the price is the main difference! otherwise there is not much. You need a copy of your old OS on cd (XP etc) as the upgrade will ask for it when installing.
Can I legally install that copy of Windows on a different computer (that is not a Gateway)? My sister bought a Dell laptop, which came with Vista and she doesn’t like it. Will my OS install cd work?
I personally recomend the Replay Converter free trial. It converts almost anything into anything you want. The Nidesoft Video Converter is handy also but not as simple. Links to the trial downloads can be found here
you need to convert the video file into something moviemaker recognizes…however, before converting it, first, open up to that folder, and underneath the open file thing, there should be a drop-down menu…select all files and the file should show up…then open the file and it will tell you whether the file is compatible with moviemaker
personally that’s what i hate about windows…nothing good ever works on it
I am trying to get my Windows Media Player to loop and play the song over and over by itself so i do not have to get up and click the play button when the song ends to replay it. Does anyone know how?
there is a repeat button at the bottom of the full screen interface. it is an arrow in the form of a circle. point to it and it will say “turn repeat on”.
I have Windows Vista and I have already tried Taskbar>Toolbars>Windows Media Player, but it still won’t give me the mini player. Help Please!
I bought a Gateway laptop about 5 years ago that came with a copy of Windows XP. That laptop is dead and so that copy of Windows is no longer in use.
First of all the copy of windows in the Gateway laptop is tied to the original hardware, you are not allowed to swap it.And even if you could as soon as the CD detects a non Getway BIOS on the other computer it will stop the installation
It won’t be legal because it was an OEM version for that laptop. Also XP is going to be a dead duck soon. Vista has had enough fixes to make it stable enough to use, she’s better sticking with that, than having a version that Microsoft will recognise as illegal and not update.
Help me because the first time i right-clicked the eloual doll, copied oit and pasted it on to Paint on windows. But when it appered nothing showed exept the words ”elouai” on the down right corner. But how do you make it see the elouai doll on Paint at windows?
I recorded a little clip about :30 seconds long and i saved it to a file in my computer. And when i go to import it onto windows movie maker it doesnt show it in that folder. Do i need to convert it to somthing? =( please help.
Movie Maker pretty much only accepts .avi files.
It will than prompt you for a password, put in your account password (what you used in the installation, and what you use to login
When GParted opens up, you will see all of your partitions there. You will be able to recognize them by their size and format (NTFS are the ones you need), right click both of the NTFS partitions and select mount. After this you will be able to access them from the Computer.
If you need any help e-mail me
Dual Boot.
The best way is to put Ubuntu on the C drive and use F for data.
You would need to shrink the existing windows partition and put Ubuntu in the space you made.
Then you choose Ubuntu or Windows at boot. I barely ever use Windows at all.
You can see anything on the windows partition from Ubuntu but not vice versa (well not as-is anyway). While in Ubuntu you can drag and drop from windows to drive F or to sda2 (Ubuntu) from sda1 (Windows) (those may be hda0 hda1 etc too depending on if you have sata HDD’s)
When reading the options on the partition table page just avoid the option that deletes windows. If you choose manual install you will need to select 2Gb for ’swap’ 5 to 15 for / and the rest for /home .
To try Ubuntu without changing anything use wubi but this may not give you the same access as above because there won’t be a new partition created. This is just to see if you like it and if it works with your hardware etc etc. It will most likely but better safe than sorry. There is an amazing array of free software available. Feel free to email me.
Split the F drive into 2 partitions (use GParted). One for Ubuntu and one for storage.
Using GParted (Free) format the storage partition as NTFS.
Install Ubuntu on the other partition. Windows will be able to use the NTFS partition but won’t see the Linux partition.
I had this problem because my camera recorded in quicktime and it wouldn’t show up in wmm. All you have to do is look to see what your file type is which can be done by just letting your mouse sit over the file’s icon where it’ll say something like Type: QuickTime. Then do a search for a converter that takes your file type and turn it into .avi on google and one will come up right away.
Is this possible, and if so, How?
Yes, it is possible. When installing Ubuntu just split the F partition into two partitions, of which format one into NTFS format (this one will be used for storage) and the other one into ext3 format (install Ubuntu on this one).
It might happen that when your done installing it, you don’t see your NTFS formated partitions in Ubuntu. What you need to do is mount them. Open up the Terminal
Windows 7 switches desktop backgrounds at set intervals, and I have a tweak to make Windows 7 also support Dreamscenes (Since they took it out) but Windows 7 won’t switch the dreamscenes like it does regular pictures. Anyone know how?
i have windows vista. ive ran across how about a month ago, but didn’t think i needed it and now my mom wants it off.

Windows Live Messenger – Go into Tools – Options – Sign In and untick the box that says Automatically run Windows Live Messenger when I log onto Windows. You will then have to run Windows Messenger and log in each time you want to use it.
I send a video message from my phone to the computer and windows movie maker doesn’t support the file [3g2] so how do i change the file type into one that windows movie maker DOES support? Please helpp.;
Thankss.
Download a free video format converter, i have something called Format Factory and it works really good. Windows movie maker supports wmv and mpg…maybe more but those are the two i use.
this may or may not work depending on ur original film type.
ok, first in windows explorer go to tools<folder options<view and unclick the hide extensions for known file types
go to ur file and change the file extension to .wmv or some other supported extension.
now try importing it.
I have two hard drives on my computer. One is C which the computer boots Windows XP from, and the other is drive F which is only used for storage.
I want to install ubuntu on drive F, and still be able to use it for storage. I would also like it be so that I can drag files onto drive F in windows, and be able to see them in Ubuntu.(Applications>Accessories>Terminal) and type in
If you want free, legal, high quality music, (Or other iTunes stuff, such as videos and games) you can use Swagbucks. It’s basically a Google and Ask powered search engine, but what makes it unique is that it rewards you just for searching. Just replace any Google searches you might do with a Swagbucks search. Each search is like a lottery, it gives you a random chance to win.
Is windows media player compatible for macs, or are sanza mp4 players compatible with iTunes? Either answer, or both, would be helpful.
The sansa MP3 players do not work on Itunes (only Ipods do). It will only work on media player, or the drag and drop way but media player is easier. Download it here
You will also need the Sansa media converter for video but I don’t think that it works on Macs in which case you will need to use either boot camp (to run Windows) or Wine (a windows compatibility layer). I don’t have a Mac so you are on your own if you need video (sorry).
create an account, and then just type in ur number.. trust me no hidden fee’s or else i wouldnt say this sh!t, but yeah.. and u can look up songs, and then scroll down to songs or if u searched artists… yeah u get the point. best answer cuz im dope!
mp4 is a video format the audio format is called AAC but the extension is .m4a. To make them in .m4a format put the songs in iTunes and Go to Edit > Preferences > General > Import setting make it AAC encoder Highest quality go to the song you want on your phone right-click it and choose Create AAC Version. To get them to your phone free matters on the phone and your phone plan if your has a micro/mini card input place it in take a pic with the camera, save it to the card, and plug the card into your PC/Mac and place the songs in the music folder it should create when you take a photo. If you don’t text it to yourself if you don’t have unlimited texting then their are a few services on the web that let you upload a file to the web gives you a download password go there on your phones web browser enter the download code and download it to your phone. If you don’t have unlimited web then look in the box for some software, install it if available, and use the included cord (if their is one) and sync it to it that way. If that doesn’t work then I got nothing for you and Gabe don’t pay for limewire use frostwire. It is free software that gives people access to limewire downloads, except it removes viruses and is free.
Never use torrents such as Limewire or Frostwire. They’re full of viruses and are illegal to use.
Theres other ways to win, but you can see that in the walkthrough below.
Swagbucks has hundreds of prizes, my favorite being a $15 iTunes gift card. It might take a few weeks to get it, but free is free right? I’ve personally redeemed $60 worth of iTunes cards, so I promise it works.
It enables to convert and burn any video file directly to VCD, DVD, SVCD, MPEG1 and MPEG2 format. It works well for me,give it a try.
well,u may try Blu-Ray Ripper ,as far as i know , it helps you share your Blu-Ray and general DVD movie or music on more portable players, like iPod, iPhone, Gphone, Apple TV, PSP/PS3, Xbox, Mobile Phone, Mp3 Player.
I have a DVD+R that contains a MP4 file but my DVD does not play it, how can I switch the type of file so I can either play it on a DVD or Windows Media player.
itunes cannot burn movie DVDs, you can use convertXtoDVD to do that, convertXtoDVD is a great dvd burning tool that can burn all kinds of video files to DVD and make it playable on regular DVD player.
Aimersoft DVD Creator is a good choice. It converts popular video formats such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, DivX, DV, VOB to DVD and burn DVD movie played on portable or home DVD player. Any video to to VCD/DVD/SVCD is even faster than real-time.
You can use a DVD Burner program to help you. I personally used Cucusoft Video to DVD Converter.
the link
includes the tutorial about how to use it ,hope it helps u !
iTunes and windows media player both are video player, they can’t burn video to DVD for playback.
If you want to know how to burn mp4 video to DVD, this step by step guide would help you a lot
I recommend Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/DivX/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter. It enables you to convert and burn any video file directly to VCD, DVD, SVCD, MPEG1 and MPEG2 format.
I’ve just downloaded an MP4 video file which is more or less 200MB, but no bigger than 700MB…
Is it possible to burn my MP4 video file, without converting it, in a CD-R and run it on my DVD player, and can it run on my DVD player, since my player says its MP4 Capable?
You need to convert it, because most of the dvd creators does not accepts MP4 video.
I recommend 4Videosoft Video Converter Platinum which can convert between any video formats including MPG, MPEG, MPEG2, VOB, MP4, M4V, RM, RMVB, WMV, etc and extract audio from these video.
It also converts between all audio formats including MP3, MP2, AAC, AC3, WAV, MID, MIDI, WMA, M4A, RA, RAM, OGG, APE, AU, FLAC .
Hope it helps!
but in the trailer of new moon movie, when jacob transforms he doesnt look that big??
but i mean come on. its ok if the wolf in the movie doesnt look like the one describe on the book, but they cant put a simple sizes wolf on the movie either
This works every time for me.

I know you can put them onto a movie thing on the sims 3 website but movie maker has a lot more options. When i try to import them into movie maker the clips don’t show up, i know where they should be but they just don’t show up. How do i get it to work?
a movie called thirteen. it’s a movie about girls you start to mature and do drugs and become all messed up and stuff like that. very girly movie that my sister likes a lot, but very inappropriate for young children
The Basketball Diaries
Requiem For A Dream (warning…this one is pretty brutal)
Check out the movie “Kids.” I believe it came out about 1994. Its definately an eye opener.
My son wants to go to see a movie for his 13th birthday. And i wanted to know what movies would be playing between August 23-29
Here’s a link for what’s opening in August.
GI Joe is probably your best bet. There’s also another movie called Shorts but it’s more of a family movie.
Upcoming movies are GI Joe 8/7 and X-Games 3D; The Movie a 8/21. Either should be pretty good for that age group. Harry Potter should still be showing, but probably alreday seen by those who are interested in it.
For people that read the book new moon already. There the werewolves are describe to look just like wolves but theyre big as a horse.
They spent like the 3 remaining months working on CGI, so hopefully they’ve edited the wolves more.
Okay this is what I think, the wolves in the book sounded pretty big and I had a n image in my head that they were the size of like a grizzly bear. But in the trailer they look smaller the may edit it a little more who knows.
I think as long as Kristen Stewart is in the movie, there is no hope for a better sequel, regardless of werewolves.
By the way, this program will generate file name and specify save path automatically, if you want to save the output file with the name and path you specified, you can type file name into the textbox after “Save as” and click on the ellipsis icon at the end of “Save to” to indicate destination folder.
open up to that folder, and underneath the open file thing, there should be a drop-down menu…select all files and the file should show up…then open the file and it will tell you whether the file is compatible with moviemaker
personally that’s what i hate about windows…nothing good ever works on it
When watching some DVDs a small movie camera appears on the screen. During some movies it goes away on its own, others it stays there through the whole movie.

you need to convert the video file into something moviemaker recognizes…however, before converting it,
First, why is it there?
Second, how can I get rid of it on the movies that it stays through the whole movie?
That could mean a number of things…
A. It means that there is another angle that the DVD is allowing you to see when that icon pops up.
B. It could also stand for a special feature clip that is attached to that specific scene.
C. It could also link you to deleted scene that was cut or has simular and funnier dialoge.
You could get rid of this icon by going into the Special Features of your Main Menu DVD and turn off that feature. Some new DVD players will keep it on when you insert your next DVD in.
This has happened to me before so I’m pretty sure you should be able to resolve this delema
